Review: 99p LA Colors Nail Polish

Good evening ladies, I hope you're all having a fab week =]

Today I wanted to blog about something I'm very excited about!

Last weekend I visited the new Westfields in Stratford, that place is amazing! I spent all day walking around, I must have walked about 5 miles and my feet were me killing after. Just as me and my friend were getting ready to leave we spotted a shop called Beauty Base and I just had to check it out.

Amongst bargain perfume and make up there was a whole section dedicated to LA Colors nail varnish, from a distance I thought it was OPI! There were well over 100 shades to choose from and I chose to try these 3 out as I didn't want to buy too many incase they were rubbish. Here are the ones I chose...

Red Carnation, Top Coat & Mauve Gauze.

I literally could have picked up at least 10 shades and I'm sorely regretting not doing so!

Red Carnation & Mauve Gauze.

.As you can see both shades are gorgeous. They were both opaque within 2 coats and applied like a dream.

The top coat dries really quickly, leaving the nails smudge proof and shiny within a few minutes.

I think the packaging looks expensive, it's basically the same as OPI at a fraction of the price. I also love the brush, it's wide and makes applying the polish fool proof.

Can you tell I love this nail polish?!?

The best thing about this product has to be the price.... every shade including base & top coats are only 99p each! Bargain of the year? I think so!

Product: 9/10
Packaging: 9/10
Price: 10/10
Overall :9/10

I'm going back to Westfields in a few weeks as some of the shops including Mac were still being built (I was  gutted about this) & I cannot wait to pick up a load more of this nail polish!

Have you tried LA Colors nail polish before and if so what did you think?

Essie Fall 2011: Brand New Bag

Essie’s got a brand new bag for fall 2011. The newest color collection pays homage to the glorious world of gorgeous handbags, classic sophistication and a return to ladylike glamour.
Inspired by the clean lines and simple elegance of post-war styles and the colors of handbags, this collection is comprised of classic shades reinvented for modern times.
“The accessories that you wear and carry say so much about who you are and who you want to be.” Essie Weingarten, founder of essie cosmetics explains. “The same is true with your manicure and your nail color. The first thing a person notices when they meet you for the
first time are: your shoes, your handbag and your nails.”
The fall 2011 collection consists of six creamy rich shades reminiscent of autumn with complex colors that are a throwback to the fashions of the 1940’s and 1950’s.
  • carry on magnetic mulberry merlot
  • glamour purse almond blush
  • case study rich camel beige
  • power clutch enigmatic darkest green

Chanel Mat Top Coat

By Pixiwoo

This product deserves some love. It is a great top coat that dries mat over any colour. I tried to find the most shiny nail varnish I had and put the mat coat over the top, I opted for Chanel Le Vernis in Peridot (No. 531) and these were the results...

The results are great and almost immediate - it dries really fast and totally transforms the nail. I have been trying it out with other colours as well and think it looks very sophisticated with black. I like the change it gives to the nails, it makes a nice alternative to glossy nails and adds a bit more interest. Its appearance is chalky yet doesn't wash out the colour at all - perfect. There are other brands bringing out mat finish polishes but the beauty of this product is that you can take any colour and transform the look within seconds. It is so simple to apply and looks amazing.

Pink Polish or Perfection?

If you think all light pink nail polishes are basically created equal, go ahead and skip this post. But if you have stood in a nail salon pondering which pale pink to choose and believe that even these quietest of polishes have important nuances (opacity, shimmer density, warm vs. cool tone), read on. I must share my discovery.
My new nail love: Essie Not Just A Pretty Face. I am going to show you the bottle because my camera is seemingly incapable of doing such a subtle shade justice.

It's part of the brand's Summer '09 product line, but I only just discovered it a couple weeks ago when shopping for my wedding shade--obviously a momentous task for anyone as obsessed with nail polish as I. My best friend and I headed to Bed Bath & Beyond--weirdly, they have the widest selection of pretty, pale Essie shades I've seen anywhere. I knew I wanted pale pink, but I wanted a really perfect pale pink. Here's why this one fits the bill:
* It's the most neutral pink ever--exactly between warm and cool on the spectrum. I think it would flatter literally any skintone (if you care about such things). It's pinker in real life than it looks in the above shot, btw.
* It's pale but quite opaque, so it covered the imperfections in my nails (they're still total crap after a gel manicure ruined them about six weeks ago).
* It has zero shimmer, but it's high-gloss and stays that way for a long time.
