A guy running his fingers through your hair is sexy. Having him get caught on your ‘do is a major DON’T. “Hairspray, highlights, extensions—it’s all too much,” says Mike, 22. “I like women who keep it natural so that you can see the real person.”

While we stress over covering up every imperfection, the guys just want us to take it all off, and that includes makeup. “Too much powder and foundation makes me dread what’s underneath, and it implies high maintenance,” says LaSean, 35. Forget piling it on—just let your skin breathe!

Imagine trying to hold hands with those talons! “Really long nails are frightening,” says Shane, 22. Keeping them trimmed is not only less maintenance, it makes you more cuddle-friendly, too.

Super-skinny tadpole brows aren’t a turn-on, says Will, 27. Draw attention to your eyes without penciling on your arches—the natural, groomed kind beat the overplucked ones any day!

Sure, Liz was a vision in thick black liner and a gold headdress, but Paul, 23, makes a good point: “You aren’t Elizabeth Taylor or Cleopatra.” Rim the inside of your eyes for added definition or add bronze or eggplant liner for a little drama.

“I’m not into a girl if her skin looks like a catcher’s mitt,” says Ron, 25. “The orange, leathery look is just not cute.” Slather on the sunscreen, skip the tanning bed and get your natural glow on.

We all experience nights, whether restless or reckless, that quickly turn into mornings where we wake up looking just a little less than alert. But as the story goes, when that alarm buzzes, it’s time to get up and hide our tired eyes. I got the scoop from Physicians Formula Celebrity Makeup Artist, Joanna Schlip, on how to look alert with a few makeup tricks.

1. Line the top of your eye three quarters of the way starting where the color of your eye begins and take it out to the spot where the crease in your eye ends. Creating a thick line on the top gives the illusion of fuller lashes, which opens the eye. Try Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum, $10.95.

2. Trace a soft, thin line underneath your lashes on the bottom of your eye. Make sure you avoid the inner rim. It will only make them appear smaller.

3. Smudge a highlighter or a shimmery eye shadow underneath your brow bone and place a tad in the inner corners of your eyes for an instant pick-me-up.

4. Fill in your brows from the arch to the outside of your eye to add lift. I like the Estee Lauder Artist’s Eye Pencil, $19.

5. Apply false lashes to the outer most corners of your peepers, curl them and add mascara.

And woo-la! Grab a grande non-fat latte with an extra shot of espresso and no one will ever know about your rough night.

Lesson 1: Sometimes a thin line of bright liner is all it takes to make a big statement.

Lesson 2: Colorful hair streaks can be surprisingly chic when done well.

Lesson 3: The right foundation will make her skin look perfect but not mannequin-like. Find out which one she uses.

Addicted to Makeup? No need to worry...you are not alone!

Are You Makeup Agoraphobic? (A New Study Says 1/3 of Women Are): glamour.com

The Daily Mail is reporting that a survey of 3,000 women has found that 1/3 of them wouldn't not go out to the grocery store to get milk if they couldn't find their makeup bag. And, apparently, the paper has labeled this "makeup agoraphobia." Another finding in the study:

60 per cent of women wear makeup no matter what--doesn't matter where they're going or if anyone they know will see them. And almost half said they'd rather go for a full face of makeup rather than go bare-faced, which means these folks would prefer going for foundation and eyeliner to do mundane things like take out the trash.

Oh, and one in ten women said they wouldn't allow their boyfriends to see them sans makeup, "preferring to sleep with a full face on rather than remove it at bedtime." Wait--what? Really? Some women are sleeping in makeup?

We've seen polls like this before--a previous one found that the number of women who wouldn't go out without makeup was lower at 15 percent. My guess is that's probably closer to reality. But, hey, I didn't do the study.

Glamour Article: What is the most important?

What’s The One Makeup Item You Feel Totally Naked Without?: glamour.com

I don't wear a ton of makeup, but when I skip this one particular makeup step, I feel basically as if I am walking around missing a major article of clothing---say, pants.

Okay, perhaps pants are a bit of an exaggeration. But not wearing this makeup item is like not wearing a bra. Which makeup item am I referring to? Mascara. More specifically, mascara on curled eyelashes. Without curling and mascara-ing, my lashes are stick-straight, so they basically look nonexistant. And somehow, these disappearing lashes really change the look of my entire face. I'm convinced of it! I remember the day I met up with Baze, one of Glamour's beauty editors, in the park last summer after having my baby. It was one of the few times I'd ventured so far away from my house sans mascara, and Baze immediately noticed that something was really different about me! (Well, other than the 20 extra pounds and the unwashed hair ... haha!).

Weekend Makeup Idea

Looking to branch out beyond your basic mascara and shadow this weekend? Just maybe? After you see this gorgeous photo of Mila Kunis, I think you will be.

Chanel celebrity makeup artist Rachel Goodwin gave Mila Kunis these smoky eyes for the People's Choice Awards on Wednesday. "I wanted Mila's makeup to be sophisticated and sultry like the soft lines and color of her dress," she says. "I accentuated her incredible eyes with a very soft earth-tone smoky eye.

She used Chanel's shadow quad in Winter Nights followed by the brand's Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow in Torrent, a khaki shimmer. To up the intensity, she then blended a smoky quartz pencil along the inner rim of Mila's bottom lids.

Pink Polish or Perfection?

If you think all light pink nail polishes are basically created equal, go ahead and skip this post. But if you have stood in a nail salon pondering which pale pink to choose and believe that even these quietest of polishes have important nuances (opacity, shimmer density, warm vs. cool tone), read on. I must share my discovery.

My new nail love: Essie Not Just A Pretty Face. I am going to show you the bottle because my camera is seemingly incapable of doing such a subtle shade justice.

It's part of the brand's Summer '09 product line, but I only just discovered it a couple weeks ago when shopping for my wedding shade--obviously a momentous task for anyone as obsessed with nail polish as I. My best friend and I headed to Bed Bath & Beyond--weirdly, they have the widest selection of pretty, pale Essie shades I've seen anywhere. I knew I wanted pale pink, but I wanted a really perfect pale pink. Here's why this one fits the bill:

* It's the most neutral pink ever--exactly between warm and cool on the spectrum. I think it would flatter literally any skintone (if you care about such things). It's pinker in real life than it looks in the above shot, btw.

* It's pale but quite opaque, so it covered the imperfections in my nails (they're still total crap after a gel manicure ruined them about six weeks ago).

* It has zero shimmer, but it's high-gloss and stays that way for a long time.
